TULSA PROFESSIONAL AUTISM NETWORK
Our network began to meet in March 2002 and has grown to include many of the local allied helping professionals who have a special interest in autism. After eight of us attended a two-day workshop on Asperger's Syndrome in 2001, we found the networking during breaks and lunch to be of value and wished to continue to meet and share information.
TPAN is not a formal organization, nor part of any umbrella organization. Therefore, there is not a telephone number to reach the network. We meet two to three times per year and communicate frequently through a list serve, regarding new research findings, new services in Tulsa, training opportunities, etc.
At our first meeting, many gaps were identified, one of which was a lack of a resource directory for parents seeking services for their child and for physicians/professionals needing to make appropriate referrals. Therefore, we felt that one improvement we could offer to the Tulsa area was such a resource. So we have compiled information on those who wish to be listed in the Tulsa Professional Autism Network Directory. We know that this is not a comprehensive list of all therapists who provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and support services for those on the autistic spectrum. As more individuals join our network, their information will be added to the directory.
When the Tulsa Autism Foundation (now Autism Center of Tulsa) opened in 2005, we felt that the best way to make this information easily accessible to parents and professionals was to post this directory on the ACT website. The network is not a part of ACT. They, nor we, are endorsing any of the individuals listed. It is simply a summary of what we know is available at this time.
